I’m trying to clean up my studio and decided to discontinue some patterns in the process. I’ve got the last of each of these embroideries for half off in my shop now.
yayayayayayay! before the re:make show, i got really freaked out about not having enough embroideries and proceeded to embroider like a madwoman for a couple weeks.
I got an custom order request on etsy recently to draw and embroider Nicolas Cage’s “you don’t say?!” face.
Oh course I said yes immediately.
It’s done on white linen in black thread. I played with a variety of thicknesses to get the shading and details right. It took 3 nights of embroidering – the third night was a little surreal because I was doing the shading the perhaps a little too close to an embroidered face for too long. I just kept holding it up for Tyler to see and giggling maniacally.
I couldn’t be happier with it – I honestly got a little sad when I put it in the mail yesterday.
But I am immensely happy that there’s a home out there that is going to have this face on the wall, so it works out well. 😀
These cat necklaces are one of the quickest and most satisfying projects I’ve made in a while. I made up a few of them before the Patchwork show in May, and I’m selling them on etsy now, too!
They’re just canvas, marker and some simple stitching.
I used a air soluble pen to draw the cat head shapes on canvas, and then sewed two layers of canvas together using the pen as a guide. Then just draw your faces on each side and add a nice chain. Pretty simple. 😀
I like that they’re so lightweight too – it’s not a good thing when there’s lot of wind, but if you’re inside you can’t really tell you’re wearing anything.
