I’m normally not a huge fan of slow cookers. The food is never as great tasting as what I get from my oven or stove top – or hell, even the pressure cooker! But I have found one pretty awesome use for it: baking a whole chicken!
To bake the chicken, I removed the skin and applied a dry rub all over. This rub is KFC-inspired and really damn tasty.
To do a whole chicken, it’ll take 3-4 hours on high or 7-8 on low. I leave mine to cook while I’m working – it’s a really great start to a good dinner when you don’t have much time. 😀
It doesn’t beat a roast chicken, but for the amount of work you put in and all the time you get to spend not messing with it, it’s a really solid way to cook a whole chicken.
