how to peel and store fresh ginger

peeling ginger

Fresh ginger was once a thing that I bought and forgot about constantly. I’d buy it with the best intentions and then find it two months later in the bottom of the crisper drawer looking very shriveled and sad. Poor little ginger, I am sorry ๐Ÿ™

But lately, I’ve been doing something much different.

Did you know that ginger stores amazingly well in the freezer? You can grate it so easily when it’s frozen!

All you need to do is go to the store and buy ALL THE GINGER. Then take it home, and trim off any shriveled or dry parts with a paring knife. And then, use a spoon to peel it! I know it sounds crazy, but with a little pressure, a spoon works perfectly. And it allows you to get in all the nooks are crannies of the ginger. ๐Ÿ˜€

Once it’s nice and peeled, pop in it a freezer bag and into the freezer.

Next time you’re making something yummy, pull the frozen ginger out and grate it directly over the pot. BAM.
