DIY orange cleaner

I love using vinegar to clean around the house, but damn it is stinky. I don’t really mind it, but the boy does. This is a really excellent way to mask the smell of the vinegar with something yummy. (hooray for cleaning products that come from snacks!!!)

All you really need to do it steep some citrus peels in white vinegar for 1-2 weeks. I used two oranges, one grapefruit and one lemon. Take off as much of the white pith as you can, stuff them in a glass jar and just cover with white vinegar.

diy orange cleanerI shook mine from time to time, whenever I remembered. I don’t know if this is really necessary, but I told myself it would help speed up the process. 😉

Once it’s smelling nice and citrus-y and the vinegar has turned orange you’re good to go!

Strain out the peels and dilute however you want with water. I normally do 50/50 water & vinegar for wiping down surfaces, but you can use it full strength on soap scum, grease and water spots. 🙂
