This is something I’ve been seeing all over online. Every time I saw it, looking highly styled and strangely photographed, I kept feeling more and more skeptical.
Today, armed with my fancy new iPhone (I’m in the right century now, y’all!) and my food processor, I set out to attempt to make delicious chocolate mousse with no dairy. I think it was a success. 😀
- one large ripe avocado
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1/4 cup nut or soy milk
- 1/4 cup honey
- one teaspoon vanilla
Not too tricky, right?
Just pop it all in a food processor or blender and process until creamy. That’s it! You might need to scrape down the sides to rid yourself of avocado chunks, but that’s all the work you’ll have to do.
Eat it right away or chill it for a bit – just not too long. Oxidized avocado is pretty gross. 😛
I am really pleased with it – it is creamy, it is chocolate-y. If you prefer all your chocolate to be like milk chocolate, you might want to up the honey and cut back on the cocoa a little. It’s definitely more of a dark chocolate mousse as-is.
