Full disclosure: actually this has happened twice now. I would like it to happen more times, but sadly no one else seems to be into having Nicolas Cage’s face in their house. The first time was a bit of a joke, and his face embroidery included a really silly collar and got sewn into a pillow.
These cat necklaces are one of the quickest and most satisfying projects I’ve made in a while. I made up a few of them before the Patchwork show in May, and I’m selling them on etsy now, too!
They’re just canvas, marker and some simple stitching.
I used a air soluble pen to draw the cat head shapes on canvas, and then sewed two layers of canvas together using the pen as a guide. Then just draw your faces on each side and add a nice chain. Pretty simple. 😀
I like that they’re so lightweight too – it’s not a good thing when there’s lot of wind, but if you’re inside you can’t really tell you’re wearing anything.
Etsy’s finally picking up again! HOORAY! I always feel like there’s a long dead stretch from March to sometime in summer. Can’t explain it but it happens every year!
I got a custom request recently, pictured above: “i’m old and we’re both dying”
Patchwork is only a few days away! I actually took today and tomorrow off work to get going on MOAR STUFF. Right now I have 22 embroideries in hoops, and I have not yet counted the flat ones. Once I laid them out I started worrying it was not enough.
Also pictured: nine nearly completed needlebooks. They are in serious need of some buttons.
I need to make golden snitches, more lego jewelry, and maybe some chapstick too! I have two pounds of beeswax that needs to be used at some point, and this is as good a time as any. 😀
And now I need to go fight with my ironing board and finish more flat embroideries. Yeehaw!
