added bonus: your house will smell like christmas spirit
- 1/2 gallon apple juice or cider
- 1 1/2 cups bourbon
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 8-10 cloves, whole
- pinch of nutmeg
- pinch of allspice
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (optional – but tasty!)
let the apple juice/cider, vanilla, and spices simmer on the stove for 10-15 minutes – if you want to go longer, put a lid on it so it doesn’t evaporate too much! you can also add 1/4 cup brown sugar to it. it helps to take the edge off the bourbon!
once it tastes nice to you, turn off the heat and let it cool down for a few minutes, and then pour in the bourbon to taste. 1 1/2 cups was perfect for me!
either ladle it from the pan or strain it and pour it into another container. enjoy!
